Chris Gessel's Graduation

Last Friday Larry, Calley, Mawmaw, Suey, Abby, and I drove up to Ogden for Chris's graduation from Weber State. He earned his second associate's degree in nursing, so that means when he passes his state nursing licensing test, he'll be a full-fledged RN. Anne was there with her sister Emily and nephew. Chris and Ashely Mann also came up with their baby Myley. It was fun to watch Chrissie Boy walk out and sit with the graduates. He had on his purple robe and mortarboard, which he hated, and his white honors thingy around his neck. I think it is so interesting to see all those scholarly professors in their multi-colored robes and hoods. It was a short session, mainly because the speaker gave a good but short talk. We got some good photos of Chris on the floor, if you know where to look for him. We also took a bunch of photos outside after the ceremony.

Abby was so good during graduation. She liked to sit on the end of the row with Granddaddy cuz he let her sit on the step beside him. He took her out a couple of times, not because she was being naughty, but because he just wanted to walk around with her. She didn't get her afternoon nap, so she was pretty tired by the time we got home.

After the ceremony we all drove to Famous Dave's Barbeque. That is Chris's most favoritest play to eat out. Now I can say that I ate there, and I have no more desire to eat there again. For those of you who know and can testify, Grayson's Barbecue in Clarence, LA turly is the best bbq on earth. Plus, Grayson's isn't nearly as expensive as Famous Dave's. Our sweet Mawmaw picked up the check.

Mawmaw had a bad spill on her way into the restaurant. I think her shoe slid on the asphalt and her feet flew out from under her. She landed on her right hip and hand. Nothing was broken, thank goodness, but she skinned up her little finger, and she was quite sore for several days.

We went back over to Chris and Anne's home for a little while after lunch. Anne had made a wonderful chocolate cake for the celebration. Suey and Calley played Guitar Hero for a while, amd then it was time to head for AF, Orem, and Provo We had a great time being with the Gessels on that special day. Can't wait for them to move down here..
